Shiny Bar

I originally saw a tutorial like this at SmileyHelper, but it was designed for Photoshop. I took the basic principles with a few twists of my own to write this tutorial and bring you an alternative effect.

.001 Open a new image (CRTL+N) with any dimensions that you'd want. It doesn't matter what size you choose; the efect will show up regardless. I chose to make mine 300px by 100 px. To set your shape, you can select the rectangular marquee. I used the rectangular marquee for this tutorial, with the radius for Rounded Corners set to 25. This isn't nescessary.

.002 Apply the yellow and black diagonal line pattern (by using the paint bucket tool) to a new layer (CRTL+SHIFT+N > Transparent). Change the opacity to 2.5%.
** You might be wondering why we're using the yellow and black diagonal pattern rather than just a plain light gray and black. The yellow adds more color to the finished product, so I therefor reccomend this one.

.003 Create a new layer (CRTL+SHIFT+N > Transparent) and draw a straight line with the largest fuzzy circular brush at a 4.40 scale across the very top of the image . Change this layer's opacity to 50%.

.004 Draw a second line with the same sized brush on a new layer, but this time at the bottom of the image. Change the layer's opacity to 25%.

Now you're done with your bar, and you can get creative and add anything you'd ever want to it. Here's how mine turned out.
