This tutorial is compatible with most graphic programs.
From That to This
Step .001
Open up your image in your desired program. I will be using this image. You may resize your image if nesescessary, but keep in mind that
the average icon dimensions are 100px by 100px and 90px by 90px.
Step .002
Paste this onto your image and set the layer mode to
screen. Move the layer around if you need to; to get the blue spot to the focal
point of the image.
Step .003
Paste this as a new layer, and drag it beneath the main
image. This'll provide a very spiffy and elegant looking background especially after step
.004...
Step .004
Take the original layers (the one with the actual image and the one with the blue dot) and merge
them together. Use the rectangular marquee tool and take a chunk out of one of the sides
(CRTL+X).
That was quite easy.. Wasn't it? Now you're done with the actual effect! Feel free to add any
other decorative items to make your icon look spiffier. ^^

Welcome
... to the second home of a questionably sane American teenager.
Look through what's become of her boredom, and eventually you'll find
something you like.
Hi there, you can call me Alex. I'm just your abnormal American teenager.
I like show tunes, indie music, photography, tea, and just about every
bright color you can think of.
What else could you ever so possibly want to
know?
